Wallis and Futuna regrouped, beefed up attack on blocking, spiking and ball placement to win the fourth set 25-19 and qualify for the gold play off. They were defeated by gold medal holders Wallis and Futuna 3-1 today. The visitors also took out the second set in a close encounter 25-21. PNG fought back hard with a home crowd of over 2 000 people cheering them on to take out the third set 25-16 forcing the match into a fourth set. In the women’s finals, PNG will take on New Caledonia in the bronze play off and American Samoa will play Tahiti for gold. They now take on New Caledonia in the gold medal play off on Saturday while PNG will play Tahiti for bronze. Wallis and Futuna were too strong winning the first set 25-20.
