first_imgMinerva Punjab owner Ranjit Bajaj has hit back at All India Football Federation (AIFF) and Real Kashmir FC saying football cannot be played in Srinagar in the current scenario, just four days after the Pulwama terror attack. Bajaj has stood his ground ever since the terror attack saying that his team will not travel to Srinagar without security assurances. On Monday, Real Kashmir FC were supposed to host Minerva Punjab for an I-League match in Srinagar but Minerva Punjab did not turn up for the match and the hosts posted photographs and video saying Srinagar was normal.A day after the Pulwama terror attack, Minerva asked AIFF to postpone the game or move it to a neutral venue. AIFF, however, decided against their appeal and said their match commissioner and local security had given them a go-ahead for the match. Minerva then asked for written security assurance from Indian Army or the Government of India or the Home Ministry and upon not receiving the same, they decided not to travel. Minerva also mentioned in their club statement that their foreign players have been advised by their embassies not to travel to Srinagar.”How can I force my @minervapunjabfc Foreign players who have been given travel advisories by their embassies not to travel to J&K? And today there was a 12-hour encounter at the same place!
