first_imgRTÉ’s Sinead Kennedy and Alanah Miley (11) and Johnny Harkin (10) lent a helping hand today to remind the nation that the clock is ticking towards the nomination deadline for the People of the Year Awards 2016. We have a little over a week before the nominations close.The final date for submitting nominations is Monday, 12th September – the last chance for the public to nominate Ireland’s deserving heroes for this year’s Awards.Sinead, Alanah and Johnny are encouraging the country to get their nominations submitted on time for the everyday heroes living in their local communities. Whether they are unsung heroes or household names, the People of the Year Awards celebrates those people who have done extraordinary things and made a real difference in people’s lives. Categories include International Person of the Year, Young Person of the Year, Community Group of the Year and Sports Person of the Year, with other Awards presented for acts of bravery or personal sacrifice, achievements in areas such as the arts, culture or sciences or lifelong contributions to Irish society.Encouraging people to get their nominations in, Sinead Kennedy said, “The People of the Year Awards are a fantastic celebration of the extraordinary people throughout Ireland who go that extra mile for others every day.
