first_img Ray Wilson, AMLGS: Industry deserves praise for its reaction to a new normal July 23, 2020 Related Articles TVBET passes GLI test for five live games in Malta and Italy August 25, 2020 Submit Share StumbleUpon Genesis to appeal UKGC’s ‘disproportionate suspension’ July 23, 2020 The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) has strengthened its advertising compliance capacity by establishing a new ‘Commercial Communications Committee’ (Committee).The Committee has been formed to support the MGA, making sure that licensed incumbents adhere to the advertising guidelines set by the MGA’s ‘Gaming Commercial Communication Regulations’ policy.Bolstering provisions, the MGA has published a 30-point checklist for licensed operators offering guidance on maintaining responsible advertising standards in relation to player marketing, communications, promotions and terms-&-conditions.“The Guidelines are intended to serve as guidance on the interpretation of the Regulations, and should not be considered to be a substitute for the relevant laws and regulations,” it said. “They reflect the MGA’s intended effect of the Regulations, but neither constitute new rules nor bind the MGA or the Committee on the manner in which they will decide upon any commercial communication complaint.”The MGA added that its developments have been undertaken to maintain the Authority’s core directives of strengthening player protections and improving all-round operator responsibility at the top of its regulatory agenda.This July, it published its annual update detailing that it would undertake stronger enforcement of new regulatory demands established by its revamped Gaming Act framework.Focusing on consumer protections, in 2019, the MGA launched its new Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) function – an enforced scheme that will monitor and arbitrate disputes/challenges between consumers and licensed operators with regards to transactions and promotional offerings.
