Confidence in the global tourism performance began to rise again after a slowdown in late 2018, according to the latest UNWTO confidence index survey. Projections for the current period from May to August are more positive than in the previous three periods and more than half of the respondents expect better results in the next four months. International arrivals are still up 4% in the first quarter of 2019, according to data from the new UNWTO Barometer. International tourism (passenger and passenger transport) accounts for 29% of world exports of services and 7% of total exports of goods and services.
